Summary

Aslin joined the Tirian army disguised as her younger brother, intent on saving his life。 Skilled with a bow and fluent in Almanian, she quickly earned the trust of her fellow soldiers, all the while keeping her identity hidden。 When a covert operation goes horribly wrong, Aslin finds herself a bound captive in an Almanian fortress。 Nothing about her imprisonment is what she expected, least of all her captor Ero, an enigmatic captain of the Almanian army。 They both have secrets to keep and weapons to wield, but they have one thing in common: an undeniable, magnetic attraction。

Aslin will do whatever it takes to keep herself alive。
Ero will do whatever it takes to keep Aslin。

The Archer is a dark fantasy romance with explicit sexual scenes。 It is for mature readers only。 There are scenes of rough sex, reluctance, and violent combat。 This is a standalone work with a happy ending。

It was alrightI wish we saw more backstory for Aslin, and got to know her more before she meets Ero。 I also wish this took place over the course of more than a few weeks。 If you're a slow burn fan, this will disappoint。 A lot of miscommunication being the biggest issue in the book。 It was an overall ok read。 It was alrightI wish we saw more backstory for Aslin, and got to know her more before she meets Ero。 I also wish this took place over the course of more than a few weeks。 If you're a slow burn fan, this will disappoint。 A lot of miscommunication being the biggest issue in the book。 It was an overall ok read。 。。。more

not a dark fantasyThis is a fun, quick read romance! The beginning was my favorite, and I enjoyed the connection the couple shared。 Besides some extremely light bdsm I wouldn’t say the book holds any dark themes。 The plot was predictable but so are most romance novels。 I would have loved a deeper dive and lengthier novel!

Oh this was well done!I love the characters。 I love the miscommunication between these two。 But the passion was extraordinary。 Very spicy, with a lot of emotion。 Highly recommend。

I started this book at 9 p。m。 Major mistake on my part i finished it by 9:30 the next morning (got a little sleep in there)。 I rarely say this abt books but i could have used somemore world building and honestly needed abt 100 more pages to truely explain everything but overall one of the best reads i have had in a hot while。

It was a good read but I’m not the hugest fan of miscommunication troupes so it was a bit frustrating for me personally

Samantha

I loved how sweet this was, it was refreshing just having a sweet love story with no huge animosity。When she’s captured and introduced to his people there is only welcome, the same when introduced to his dad and sister。 The miscommunication trope I’m not a huge fan of but it works with them being from different countries/cultures。 Just the sweetness I needed to read

Devoured this bookI really enjoyed every bit of this book。 Usually I can't stand the books where the main characters keep having "misunderstanding", but I was hooked on this one and it was done very well I thought。 A quick read, lots of good spice, some rougher spice, and definitely NOT a "dark" romance。 Devoured this bookI really enjoyed every bit of this book。 Usually I can't stand the books where the main characters keep having "misunderstanding", but I was hooked on this one and it was done very well I thought。 A quick read, lots of good spice, some rougher spice, and definitely NOT a "dark" romance。 。。。more

Thought it started out really interesting, loved the idea of it all, thought she was going to be a badass and lots of opportunities to show off the skills she has and why she was referred to as archer。。。 But no, the romance was decent but there was very little action and my interest dimmed。 I started to just breeze over it all instead。 A shame as I thought this could be a brilliant Mulan-esque story or something。 Eh。 No it wasn't。 Thought it started out really interesting, loved the idea of it all, thought she was going to be a badass and lots of opportunities to show off the skills she has and why she was referred to as archer。。。 But no, the romance was decent but there was very little action and my interest dimmed。 I started to just breeze over it all instead。 A shame as I thought this could be a brilliant Mulan-esque story or something。 Eh。 No it wasn't。 。。。more

A fast, great read for someone looking for a simple fantasy enemies to lovers plot

It doesn’t have a lot of plot。 I missed battles, action, a quest。 But the romance is cute。 The spice is perfect for me, not too much and not too less or lacking。 I really appreciated that。 Despite miscommunication being one of my hated tropes (and the book being full of it) i still couldn’t put it down。 Its been a while that i read a book despite it having a trope i dislike so much。 And i am absolutely in love with the writing language used。 I hope the author releases more books!

my heart had clenched one too many timesI seem to be finding only accidental reads, but this was by far the best。 It is a true love story, whether it went to fast or not。 They way it was written is like a poem of love and sacrifice and acceptance。 It was so beautiful, I’d really recommend this to any one。

There was barely any story arch。 I wish there was more of her in the army trying not to get caught as a girl。 I feel like I missed out on a whole part of her story。 I also needed more enemies-to-lovers with tension between them beforehand。 Overall, this book kind of reminded me of the Bridge Kingdom but nowhere near as good。 2 spice

This read like a bad fanfic。 There’s not really a plot。 Things happen and you’re just kinda there for them。

I loved this story my only gripe is that I wish it was longer with more of the future。 I loved the heroine!

⤅ So much potential, so little payoff。I'm always up for reading a new fantasy romance featuring 'rough sex, reluctance, and violent combat'。 Unfortunately, this book doesn't really deliver on any of those things。Aslin is a Tirian, meaning her defining characteristic is basically being blonde, while the natives of their enemy Almania have dark hair。 Yes, that is almost the ENTIRE basis for differentiating those two countries, that's how poor the worldbuilding is。 There's slightly more to it than ⤅ So much potential, so little payoff。I'm always up for reading a new fantasy romance featuring 'rough sex, reluctance, and violent combat'。 Unfortunately, this book doesn't really deliver on any of those things。Aslin is a Tirian, meaning her defining characteristic is basically being blonde, while the natives of their enemy Almania have dark hair。 Yes, that is almost the ENTIRE basis for differentiating those two countries, that's how poor the worldbuilding is。 There's slightly more to it than that - apparently Tirians are more reserved and pessimistic - but the main thing you see in action is the blond/black-haired distinction。 The two countries are currently at war, for some unspecified reason。Aslin dressed herself up as her younger brother to serve in the Tirian army, but now, four months later, she's been caught by the enemy after a mission。 I got super excited here because girls dressed as boys is my catnip, but this book doesn't feature any of that。 All of Aslin's disguise shenanigans happened before the book starts, and her sex is revealed in the first chapter when her clothes are cut off her。Ero, a commander in the Almanian army, is horrified when he realises he's captured and strung up a woman。 He gives her a bath and clean clothes, but he can't let her go in case she reveals the secrets she's discovered。 (Though she hasn't really discovered ANYTHING。 Genuinely the 'war' in this book was total wallpaper; you never see its effects)。 So he keeps her locked up in a room, but visits her everyday, and eventually falls in love with her。Though it's difficult to see why, since Aslin has the personality of a wet tissue。 I'm meant to believe this girl impulsively ran away from home, lived as a rough-and-ready soldier for four months, and carried out dangerous missions? She evinces no patriotism and, for the most part, barely any feelings。 Ero isn't massively better。 His only personality trait is lusting after Aslin, to the point where it was actually laughable。 How are you commanding armies from her bedroom? And what the hell have you fallen in love with, considering she barely does or says anything? He essentially turned into a massive simp, and it was kind of unappealing。 I'm pretty sure the word 'abasement' was actually used at one point。This book is also marketed as a 'dark romance'。 I guess some newbie readers might categorise it as such, based purely on the fact that Ero is Aslin's captor and therefore there's an imbalance of power, but in reality the romance is nowhere near dark。 Aslin actually initiates some of their encounters, participates actively, and shows her willingness throughout (even if not necessarily verbally)。 Yeah, that's not 'dark'。 。。。more

Wooooooow wow wow wow wow Fun fucking read!! Mulan-ish, but for adults! I LOVED it!!The writing was good, some errors but who cares!! Pacing was good for such a short standalone! The constant misunderstanding trope would be my main and only gripe。 I do wish this world could have been expanded upon, that the world-building was focused more on too, that it would be a political story and not just a romance。 Then, it would have been perfect。 But alas, we don’t have that。 I still lived this although t Wooooooow wow wow wow wow Fun fucking read!! 3。5 stars。 It was a nice, sweet story。 I admit that I was expecting something quite different since it is labelled as a dark fantasy romance - I’m not sure what part of it was dark fantasy as it seemed like a reasonably standard romance to me。 I was a little disappointed in the ongoing poor communication between the H and h, even after the Hero realised that their communication wasn’t right, he allowed it to continue。 Not a fan of that plot device for driving the uncertainty/plot/emotion in the 3。5 stars。 It was a nice, sweet story。 I admit that I was expecting something quite different since it is labelled as a dark fantasy romance - I’m not sure what part of it was dark fantasy as it seemed like a reasonably standard romance to me。 I was a little disappointed in the ongoing poor communication between the H and h, even after the Hero realised that their communication wasn’t right, he allowed it to continue。 Not a fan of that plot device for driving the uncertainty/plot/emotion in the story。 。。。more

Dookie。 Which is so disappointing because the concept was so fire and the tropes were all there… the execution was just not。
